Together with Kyjov-based Myco, in 2023 we built the world's first car perfume made of mushroom mycelium. The scent soaks into the mycelium and slowly releases into the cabin over three weeks.
Myco is a biotech startup from Kyjov. It grows a material from mycelium. The underground network mushrooms grow from. The material absorbs scents, composts cleanly, and looks better than you'd expect.
Myco needed proof it actually works. Not a lab-display sample, but something you can take home and use. Something that sells the material to a customer and to an investor.
A magnetic car perfume that clips into the air vent. Body of solid Czech oak, insert of mycelium that drinks in the essential oil and releases it into the cabin over three weeks. When it's done, toss the insert in the bio waste. No plastic, no chemicals.
We burn the logo into oak with a laser. It outlasts the car. Driver and passenger see it every day.
No fragile plastic clips. A strong neodymium magnet. Holds firmly, doesn't damage the vent, swaps with one finger.
Oak from Czech forests, mycelium insert. When the scent runs out, toss it in the bio waste. Or order a replacement.
Thanks to a simple build and producing it ourselves, we kept the price low enough to send it out at scale. Myco gives it to customers. And slides it across the table to investors instead of a deck.
From the first brainstorm to the finished piece in the customer's hands. From 10 pieces, 4–6 weeks, no middlemen.
